Team India are currently busy playing the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Delhi. Before the match, fans raised their voice to remove KL Rahul from the team as he has been dealing with a poor run of form in the longest format of the game. In the first match in Nagpur, Rahul failed as he scored 20 runs off 71 balls.

Before that series opener, former cricketers like Harbhajan Singh and Kapil Dev also claimed that India need to keep Rahul out of the team for a better combination in tha playing XI. However, some fans claimed that it will be hard for the Men in Blue to keep Rahul out of the team as he is the vice-captain.

“Yes, he can be dropped as there is nothing called vice-captain’s immunity.” - Senior Board official on KL Rahul

Regarding that, Kapil Dev said: "Why can't he be dropped? There should be no such rule. You need to look at team combination, who do we need. There is no necessity. In Indian cricket, I don't think there is ever a vice-captain. Back in the day, we had a new VC in every Test match. He is a very mature player; I even like him. I consider him to be a fine batter but if he doesn't fit in the team, then let it be. The team comes first and I guess for that the captain and the management need to take a call. Some players are lucky. Rahul Dravid too played many such matches where he was made to keep wicket."

Regarding the same matter, a senior official of the Indian Cricket Board said: “Rahul has the captain and coach’s trust. Everyone goes through bad run. Virat had an extended poor run of form. But he bounced back. We just need to be patient with Rahul too. He is a classy player and he will surely bounce back. Yes, he can be dropped as there is nothing called vice-captain’s immunity. But it’s the team management’s call. Any discussion will be after Delhi Test.” So all eyes were on him. But, KL Rahul failed to deliver once again as he scored only 17 runs off 41 balls, including one boundary. After that failure, fans went berserk and slammed the star batter on the social media platform.
