Here is how fans have reacted as Pakistan won the 3rd ODI against the Kiwis and sealed the series with two more matches to go

Pakistan locked horns with New Zealand in the third match of the ongoing five-match series on 3 May 2023. The Men in Green won the first two matches. Hence, they had the chance to seal the series with another while the Kiwis were looking for a win to stay alive in the series. Speaking of the match, New Zealand won the toss and asked the home side to bat first at the National Stadium, Karachi.

For Pakistan, Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq came out to bat. All eyes were on Zaman as he had a chance to score four consecutive centuries in ODIs. But, he failed as Zaman scored only 19 runs off 26 balls. After that, the skipper Babar Azam and Iman stitched a partnership of 108 runs for the second wicket.

Pakistan now have a 3-0 lead over New Zealand in the series

Babar scored 54 runs off 62 balls, including three fours and one six. Imam missed a deserving century after getting out on 90 runs off 107 balls, including seven fours and one six. Then, Mohammad Rizwan and Agha Salman came up with some contributions as Pakistan scored 287 runs for six wickets in 50 overs. For the Kiwis, Matt Henry took three wickets, Adam Milne took two wickets, and Cole McConchie grabbed one wicket. Then, for the chase, Will Young and Tom Blundle came out. They put up an 83-run partnership for the first wicket.

But, after that, they suffered a batting collapse and they were at 196 runs for six wickets in 41.2 overs. Blundell scored 65 runs off 78 balls. Cole McConchie showed some fight and remained not out on 64* runs off 45 balls, including six fours and two sixes. But, he did not get any support as they got bundled out for 261 runs in 49.1 overs. Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Wasim, and Naseem Shah grabbed two wickets each. With this win, Babar Azam and his men sealed the series with two more matches to go. However, it turned out to be Pakistan’s first ODI series win in 12 years over the Kiwis. Now, the home sides will look for a 5-0 whitewash as that will help them to become the new number one side in ODIs.
