Being Sanju Samson isn't easy. After all, he was dropped from the T20I squad ahead of the ongoing tour of the West Indies. Notably, he was selected for the ODI squad and played the first game as a keeper. With the bat, he couldn't score big and was trapped lbw by Romario Shepherd after scoring 12. The right-hander batted at number five, a position where he has hardly batted in domestic cricket.

Meanwhile, he couldn't make the best of his opportunity. The Kerala player had another opportunity to do well as he was donning the gloves. He had taken a catch of Kyle Myers (75) off Shardul Thakur in the 26th over of the West Indies innings. However, his biggest Test was in the last over of the game. The opposition needed 15 runs to win the game.

Mohammed Siraj started the over with a dot ball and conceded seven runs in four balls. However, he bowled a wide down the leg side on the penultimate delivery. The delivery was so wide that it would have easily gone for a boundary and the home team would have gotten five runs on a non-legal delivery. In this case, the Maroon Brigade would have the equation of chasing three runs off two balls.

However, Sanju dived and managed to stop the ball from going to the boundary. This meant that the West Indies got only the extra run for the wide. Now, they needed seven runs in the last two balls. Siraj bowled a wide yorker to Romario Shepherd which only yielded two runs for the latter. Now, the team needed five runs to win but could only score one run which meant India won by three runs.

Thus, one can easily conclude that if Samson didn't reach the ball and had it crossed the boundary, the Men In Blue could have potentially gone on to lose the game. The netizens have praised his keeping which proved crucial for the team's win.
