With a win against Rajasthan on Wednesday, Delhi have kept their hopes alive for the playoffs. However, Prithvi Shaw, once again, wasn’t part of the playing XI. This was the third consecutive match when Shaw wasn’t available for Delhi. Earlier, Prithvi Shaw himself gave an update to all his fans that he was suffering from fever and was in the hospital. However, it wasn’t clear how soon would be able to recover and make his way back into the playing XI.

At the toss ahead of the start of the match between Delhi and Rajasthan, Rishabh Pant didn’t give any update on Shaw’s availability. However, after the conclusion of the game, head coach Ricky Ponting revealed that the Delhi opener had been ruled out of the Indian T20 League 2022. This indeed has come as a major blow to the side as Shaw looked solid with the bat this season.

In 9 matches, Shaw scored 259 runs at an average and a strike rate of 28.78 and 159 respectively. Meanwhile, Delhi registered their 6th win on Wednesday and kept their hopes alive for playoffs after beating Rajasthan by 8 wickets.

Riding on an impressive spell from Chetan Sakariya (2 for 23), Delhi managed to restrict Rajasthan to 160 runs in the first innings. Delhi chased down the target in just 18.1 overs, thanks to a match-winning partnership between David Warner and Mitchell Marsh. The duo stitched a 144-run partnership for the second wicket and took the game away from the opposition.

Mitchell Marsh played a game-changing knock of 89 runs in 62 balls, while Warner remained right till the end. He played an unbeaten knock of 52 runs in 41 deliveries, including 5 fours and 1 six. Rishabh Pant’s 4-ball 13 meant Delhi chased down the score with 11 balls remaining in the end.

Delhi have two games left and ought to win both of them if they are to reach the playoffs. Rishabh Pant and Co. are due to play their next game against Punjab on Monday at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai.
