The stage is getting set at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk for the qualifier two of the ongoing IPL on 24 May 2023. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will take on Mumbai Indians (MI) and will look to seal their place in the qualifier two. In qualifier one, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) at Chepauk on 23 May and sealed their berth in the grand final.

So, the winner of the eliminator clash will take on GT in Ahmedabad on 26 May in qualifier two. In the group stage, LSG finished third with 17 points in 14 games while MI finished fourth with 16 points in 14 games. But, ahead of this mega clash, LSG came up with a cheeky question for CSK on Twitter and fans went crazy seeing that. LSG wrote: “Chennai...which shade of blue are you supporting tonight?”

Both these teams’ jerseys are in blue colour but the basic difference is in shades. MI’s jersey is in a lighter shade of blue while LSG’s jersey is dark blue in colour. However, the former RCB player, AB de Villiers backed MI to defeat LSG in the eliminator after the qualifier one. While speaking to JioCinema, he said: “I feel that MI have two things going in their favor, they what knockouts are all about, they've won this tournament five times. No one has done that, so when Rohit and his team get to the knockout stages, they become a different team. Number 2 is that they are coming with momentum.”

“They've worked really hard to get to the knockout stage. We've seen that happen before, when they've lost five of their opening matches and then gone on to win the IPL. Similar situation, not quite zero out of five but they were off to a poor start and now they're in the knockouts, and they're a dangerous team in the tournament now,” de Villiers concluded. However, speaking of the LSG vs MI rivalry, MI have not defeated once LSG in all three meetings so far in IPL.
