The regular skipper of India, Rohit Sharma sustained a muscle pull in the third of the five-match T20I series against West Indies. He had to retire only after a few overs and went through a recovery phase with the help of physios and a medical team. There were speculations that he might miss the next remaining two T20Is of the series.

But the Indian camp has heaved a sigh of relief as the skipper is all set to play in the last two matches of the series against the hosts. The Indian cricket went on to confirm on Twitter about Rohit’s back spasm, and the development in his recovery under the supervision of the medical team.

Rohit himself gave an update about his injury in the post-match presentation after the third ODI. He seemed quite a bit hopeful about making a return on time to be available for the last two fixtures of the series.

“It’s okay at the moment. We’ve got a few days till the next game, hopefully, it should be okay (his injury),” said Rohit in the post-match presentation. The right-hander played a match-defining knock in the opening fixture of the T20I series against the men in maroon. He scored 64 runs off 44 balls. He also played an immense role in leadership.

The report from the CricBuzz reads that “Rohit will be available for the last two games on Saturday and Sunday.”

The Indian side has an option in the form of young batter Ishan Kishan to replace Rohit Sharma if he opts to rest in the fourth and fifth of the five-match T20I series. Speaking of the captaincy, then wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant and star all-rounder Hardik Pandya have the experience of leading the team in the past.

Apart from this, the administration has also resolved the visa dilemma for the players of both teams. There was a conundrum on clearance of US visas for the players but the Guyana government intervened and made it possible without any further delay.
