India wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant has been appointed as Uttarakhand’s brand ambassador. The same was confirmed by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday (December 19). The maverick cricket has been in some scintillating form in the past year or so. The southpaw has scored runs across formats and has been the team’s X-factor player.

Uttarakhand's chief minister took to Twitter to announce Pant as the new brand ambassador. Dhami lauded the 24-year-old and said he will help in connecting with the youth of the state and promote sports.

“One of the best cricket players of India, the idol of youth and Lal Shri Rishabh Pant of Uttarakhand has been appointed by our government as “State Brand Ambassador” with the aim of encouraging the youth of the state towards sports and public health," his tweet read.

Pant took to Twitter and thanked Dhami for providing him with this opportunity. He also vowed to promote sports in Uttarakhand.

“Thank you @pushkardhami sir for giving me the opportunity to be the Brand Ambassador of promoting Sports and General Health among the people of Uttarakhand. I’ll do my best to spread this message and feeling happy that you are taking these steps towards a fitter India,” tweeted Pant

“Coming from a small town of Roorkee, I am confident that the people here have the ability to make the country proud in various fields of life,” he added.

Pant was last seen in the three-match T20I series against New Zealand. He was rested for the two Test matches against the same opponent. After a small break, the southpaw will next be seen in action in the three-match Test series against South Africa starting on December 26 in Centurion. He is currently the team’s first-choice wicketkeeper batter in the longest format.
