The West Indies are all set to tour India for a limited-overs series in February. However, according to a report by News9, the Indian selectors are all set to meet this week to pick the Indian squad for both, the ODI series, as well as the T20I series.

The selection committee of the Asian side is led by Chetan Sharma. In the meanwhile, reports further states that the newly-appointed limited-overs skipper Rohit Sharma is all set to return and thus, begin his tenure as India's skipper in the shorter versions of the game. It is to be noted that he couldn't feature during the tour to the rainbow nation due to an injury and thus, KL Rahul led the men in blue during the one-day series against the Proteas.

However, in what can be called a major development, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is all set to be axed from the side. Not only was he unimpressive during the 50-over games against the Bavuma-led side, but he has been below-average for quite a while now. Besides, his fitness issues haven't helped his cause either.

"Though we haven't received Rohit's fitness report from the NCA yet, what we know is he has worked really hard on his fitness and is on course to return to the side. It is important for the team to have your captain and Rohit's presence will bring a lot more confidence," said a source.

"West Indies will fly in as soon as they complete their series against England and we are well prepared to host them in our bio-secure bubbles in Ahmedabad and Kolkata," the source added.

Moreover, India's lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah is seemingly set to be given a break and thus, will miss the games against the Windies. The main aim behind this is to manage his workload. However, Mohammad Shami, who was rested for the one-dayers against South Africa, is all set to return to the squad.

"We have to be very careful in managing the workload of key players as the T20 World Cup is not far away and IPL is also approaching. It is going to be a hectic few months for all of them and we must manage them with precision. Bumrah bowled the most number of overs for India in South Africa and it is likely that he will be given a rest but Shami will return to the squad," said the source.
