Release date of Documentary on Border-Gavaskar series 2020-21 announced

The documentary on the Border Gavaskar series 2020-21 down under in Australia, is all set to release on 16th June 2022.

In a big delight for all the cricket fans, OTT platform Voot Select has announced their new project, titled Bandon Mein Tha Dum. In collaboration with renowned director, Neeraj Pandey, Voot has made a documentary on the Indian Cricket Team’ historic win against Australia in the 2020-21 Border Gavaskar Series down under. The documentary is all set to release on 16th June 2022.

Director, Neeraj Pandey is best known for making the biopic on MS Dhoni. The fans have high hopes that the upcoming documentary will also be a blockbuster. The 2020-21 series was an absolute emotional roller coaster and the makers have tried to bring out all the emotions of the Indian and the Australian players witnessed during the series.

After being bundled out for just 36 runs in the first innings and losing the first game, team India fought back to win the next 2 out of 3 matches and take the series 2-1. The director highlighted the fact that the series brought smiles to the fans’ faces during the struggling period of the Covid-19 pandemic and felt that it can also be presented in an even better way.

“The human stories in this cricketing fairy tale elevated the series beyond a cricketing audience and created huge euphoria across all segments of the Indian society. The nation was gripped and it was therefore befitting for us to bring the story to the people of India of one of the greatest comebacks in the history of sports and cricket,” Pandey was quoted by Republic World.

Director, Neeraj Pandey talks about the series which went beyond ‘high-quality cricket, hard work and perseverance’.

“Nothing excited me more than retelling this story which went beyond high-quality cricket, hard work, perseverance, determination, commitment, sportsmanship, and decoding the x-factor through the mind of the players which repeated the David Vs Goliath story,” Pandey added.

Recently, India’s former vice-captain in Test Cricket, Ajinkya Rahane shared the trailer of the documentary on his Instagram handle.

“Defeat, injuries and lots of noise all around. But this is the tale of a team that faced all odds together. Bandon Mein Tha Dum is that story! Excited for you to see the struggle behind our story.” He wrote as caption.
