India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has grown as a batter by leaps and bounds since making his comeback to the Test team. His batting performance has improved and has become one of the most reliable batters in the team. This is one of the reasons he has been preferred over Ravichandran Ashwin abroad on most occasions. Now, he has three Test hundreds to his name.

Recently, the Gujarat player hit his third century and first overseas century against England. The inning helped India reach 416 from 98/5. He had great support from Rishabh Pant who also hit a hundred and dominated the English bowlers. Jadeja played a typical Test match innings. He batted around the tail-enders very well and ensured the team got to a big total.

After the game, The Three Lions' pace spearhead James Anderson praised his India counterpart and pointed out how the latter's batting has improved. The right-arm pacer said that Jadeja used to bat at number eight but now he bats at number seven. The veteran pacer added that the way Ravindra leaves the ball makes it difficult to bowl to him.

"In the past he was coming at 8, bat with the tail so he had to chance his arm a little bit, whereas now at 7 he can bat like a proper batter. He leaves really well and made it difficult for us," the 172-Test veteran said.

In reply, the 2008-U19 World Cup winner said that whenever a player score runs, everyone think that those players assume themselves as proper batters. He added that it is good to see Anderson realizing that he is a proper batter in the team.

"See, when you score runs, everyone says they think of themselves as a proper batter. But I've always tried to give myself time at the crease, to set a partnership with whoever is at the crease, to play with him. It's nice Anderson has realised that after 2014."
