India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is arguably one of the greatest all-rounders in world cricket right now. However, his last few months have been clouded with injuries. In November last year, Jadeja got injured which is why he couldn’t play the last Test match against New Zealand at home. Eventually, he went on to miss the South Africa tour and was missed dearly.

The left-hander made his international comeback with a hundred and an eight-wicket haul against Sri Lanka in March this year. In the same month, the 2013 Champions Trophy winner was appointed the skipper of the Chennai team right ahead of the Indian T20 League 2022.  After being ineffective as a skipper and as a player in the first eight games, MS Dhoni was once again handed over the captaincy.

Under Jadeja's leadership, Chennai only won two out of those eight games and the 33-year-old was ineffective with the bat and ball. After a while, he was ruled out for the rest of the season citing rib-cage injury. He didn’t play in the ongoing South Africa series and hasn’t been named in the Ireland series. However, he will play in the England series where the Indian team will play one Test, three ODIs and as many T20Is. The 2008 U19 World Cup winner uploaded a photo which captioned “Looking to start fresh in the different jersey.”

His first assignment will be the Test match which was rescheduled after its postponement last year. For the unversed, the game was postponed after a few members of the Indian team support staff was infected by COVID-19. During the series, the all-rounder was effective with the bat batting in the lower middle order, mostly with the tail.

He amassed 160 runs in four games at an average of 22.85 including a fifty. With the ball, he picked four wickets as he was playing as a fifth bowler in the team. It would be interesting to see if he does well in his comeback to international cricket.
