The upcoming seventh season Pakistan Super League (PSL) is due to begin on 27th January 2022. However, ahead of the start of the season, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have started to get a bit worried about the possible effects of the new COVID-19 variant, Omicron. The deadly virus has been spreading in all countries and several cricketers have tested positive for the same.

Notably, PSL 6 was a rigid ride for the PCB. The tournament was postponed midway after several players tested positive for the same. The tournament was then staged in UAE. However, PCB had to face a lot of issues, and at one stage it looked like the tournament won't be possible but somehow the board managed to complete the tournament.

PCB does not want to take any chances this time around. The board has hired a foreign company to prepare a safe bio-bubble. Also, a separate hotel will be booked for everyone who will be part of the T20 extravaganza. If reports are to be believed, then the foreign cricketers would have to isolate for a longer period upon their arrival in Pakistan.

The PCB has no plan B if the PSL gets postponed due Omicron threat. Earlier, they had United Arab Emirates (UAE) as a backup option to host PSL matches. However, the UAE has planned a T20 league of its own. Also, the COVID-19 cases are on the rise in the country thus it will be difficult for Pakistan to look up to UAE as an alternate venue.
