Justin Langer's departure as Australia's head coach drew a lot of criticism. Not only the experts, but several former cricketers lashed out at Pat Cummins for remaining silent during the entire scenario as well. Many people felt that Australia's Test captain should have publicly taken a stand for his team's head coach.

However, the pacer recently spoke about the issue, and stated that it was the right time "for a different direction". Thus, this managed to impress Michael Vaughan. The former English skipper took to Twitter to shower heaps of praise for Cummins.

"Pat Cummins inside 4 months as a Captain has shown exactly how to do it ... Todays press conference was a masterclass in delivering empathy with clarity to why things have happened ... he just knows how to do it," read Michael Vaughan's Tweet.

It is to be noted that Langer took over as head coach in 2018. During his tenure, Australia went on to win the 20-20 World Cup 2021, as well as the Ashes. Cummins drew light on Langer's tenure and lauded him for the change he brought to the Australian team. However, he said that it was fair for Australia to look ahead as change was the need of the hour.

"I think he tweaked and changed quite a bit. He deserves a lot of credit for that. I think the question then became do we think that it's sustainable. We thought it is the right time to make a change. I think some of these skill sets are perhaps a little bit different to perhaps his traditional coaching style," Cummins had told reporters on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old also stated that Langer shouldn't be surprised as the decision was taken after two years of evaluation. "I think he tweaked his coaching style in the last six months and did a really good job, but we think now is the right time for a different direction. It's a matter of opinion but we think it's the right one. I don't think he should be surprised though, it's been two years of evaluation. I don't think there's any big surprise," he added.
