The 22-year-old young batter Shubman Gill is impressing everyone with his stellar performances in the ongoing three-match ODI series against West Indies. Currently, the Indian team is in action during the third and last match of the ODI series against the hosts. Indian skipper Shikhar Dhawan decided to bat first after winning the toss in the final fixture of the 50-over series.

Batting first, the opening pair of the skipper Dhawan and young batter Shubman Gill provided an amazing start to the Indian team. They made a brilliant partnership of 113 runs for the first wicket before Pooran caught his Indian counterpart at mid-wicket. Following Dhawan’s dismissal, Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill made an important partnership of 86 runs for the second wicket.

Speaking of Gill’s batting, he shone again with the bat and scored 98 runs off 98 balls with seven boundaries and two sixes to his name. But the rain interrupted the game and the young lad missed a chance to score his century just by a difference of two runs.

Twitter users didn’t take it long to react with their creative versions on Shubman Gill’s missed century. They commented and lauded the youngster for his instinct for the team in the third ODI of the series against the men in maroon.

India is currently leading the series with a score line of 2-0

Earlier, India gained a lead in the series with a score line of 2-0 with two successive wins in the first and second ODI of the series respectively. Notably, the Indian management has rested some senior players from the ongoing tour of the West Indies. This list of rested seniors includes the likes of former skipper and senior batter Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah. Whereas, Yuzvendra Chahal, who was a part of the team in the ODI series will not be available in the T20I series due to injury.

Apart from this, the regular skipper of team India, Rohit Sharma will join the team to lead in the five-match T20I series against the hosts. Both teams will play the first match of the series on July 29.
