It was a record-breaking day, to say the least as five of the top four batters from England scored centuries and helped the team cross the 500-mark on the day in 75 overs as Ben Stokes’ men remained at 506/4. To add more, after winning the toss and electing to bat first, England’s openers started toying with the Pakistani pacers.

While Zak Crawley scored 122 runs, Ben Duckett, on the other hand, scored 102 runs to his name and the first wicket fell when England were at 233. Ollie Pope, who came in Number 4, scored 108 runs to his name Harry Brook scored 101 runs to his name on the day. However, Joe Root, England’s in-form Test batter could only score 23 runs before he was removed by Zahid Mahmood. Ben Stokes, on the other hand, remained unbeaten at the end of the day after gathering 34 runs off 15 balls.

As things stand, England proved their ‘Bazzball’ style of cricket yet again as they maintained the run rate over 6 right throughout the day and the Pakistani pacers, on the other hand, struggled to cope with the batters’ wrath.

Runs kept pouring in from all ends to an extent that the pacers almost gave up on their variations. England, on the other hand, kept finding gaps and came up with maximums on regular occasions.

On contrary, prior to the start of the match, Pakistan’s skipper Babar said that he had faith in his bowlers and claimed that the current pace attack has what it takes to rattle the openers and the mighty English middle-order batters.

“Our bowling is good and will give a tough time to England. Naseem has been bowling well and whatever England have been doing , I am confident in my bowling. I have the belief that they will give their best to give us wins,” Babar was quoted as saying.
