Ireland and Australia locked horns in the 31st match at the Brisbane Cricket Ground in Brisbane in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022. Irish skipper Andy Balbirnie won the flip of the coin and asked the Australians to bat first. Batting first, Aaron Finch’s men posted a total of 179 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

While chasing the target, Irish batters fell prey to the Australian bowling attack and lost their five wickets only on the score of 25 runs in four overs. Even after a fightback, Ireland eventually fell 43 runs short of the target and lost the match by 42 runs.

Speaking of the Match, riding on the captaincy knock of 63 runs off 44 balls from Aaron Finch followed by 35 off 25 balls from Marcus Stoinis, Australia managed to post a total of 179 runs for the loss of five wickets in the first 20 overs of the match. Other than Finch and Stoinis, all-rounder Mitchell Marsh also played a crucial knock of 28 runs off 22 balls with two fours and two sixes.

While chasing the target, wicketkeeper-batter Lorcan Tucker was the only batter to stand up there in the middle for Ireland following a drastic collapse of five wickets only on the score of 25 runs. Tucker played a brilliant knock of 71 runs off 48 balls with nine fours and a maximum to his name. But eventually, his efforts went in vain as Ireland lost the match by 42 runs.
