Team India are currently busy hosting Australia in the ongoing three-match ODI series. The Men in Blue registered a five-wicket victory in the series opener. But, star Indian batters like Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and Suryakumar Yadav failed miserably against the Australian bowling line-up.
While chasing only 189 runs, they were in a terrible position after losing the top four wickets for 39 runs. Suryakumar Yadav even failed to open his account as he went for a golden duck. He came to bat at the number four position. Shreyas Iyer got ruled out of this series due to his back injury.
Suryakumar Yadav is the number one-ranked batter in the 20-20 Format
As a result, it was a huge opportunity for him to score some runs. But, he scored a duck as Surya failed against a vicious inswinging delivery from Mitchell Starc. It trapped him completely plumb in front of the stumps. Still, fans were hoping to see him score some runs in the second match. Every fan knows how dangerous Surya can be in the white-ball format. He has already shown it several times in the shortest format of the game for team India. Currently, he is the top-ranked batter in the 20-20 format. He even got his Test debut in the recently completed Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In the first Test in Nagpur, he scored only four runs. After that, Surya did not get any chance in the next three matches.
Speaking of the second ODI, Steve Smith won the toss and opted to bowl first. For team India, the skipper Rohit Sharma came out for opening the innings with the star young batter Shubman Gill. But, Mitchell Starc was in a full rhythm as he took two quick wickets. India lost two wickets for 32 runs. Then, Suryakumar Yadav came out but, again he went back to the dugout for a golden duck. Starc trapped him again in front of stumps with an LBW with an inswinging delivery. So, fans were not happy to see Surya scoring two back-to-back golden ducks in the ongoing ODI series.
