With Jasprit Bumrah out of the 20-20 World Cup squad, fans are keen to know the exact replacement for the lead pacer. With Mohammed Shami coming up with an Instagram story revealing his travel to Brisbane, fans are puzzled if Shardul Thakur or Mohammed Siraj would get a go-ahead instead of Shami.

Neither the coach Rahul Dravid nor the Indian cricket board came forward to give a harbinger on the replacement. Deepak Chahar, who was initially named as the reserve player, was ruled out of the tournament due to injury.

With Shardul replacing Chahar as the reserve player, it remains to see who among the three might be named as Bumrah’s replacement. Commenting on Shami, the veteran pacer has been out of action in the T20I format and lacks games under his belt.

The Indian team led by Rohit Sharma are in Australia and played two practice matches against Western Australia. While Men in Blue won the first game by 13 runs, the team lost the second game by 36 runs. Team India would kickstart their campaign against Pakistan on October 23 at Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The team lost to Pakistan in the previous edition of the 20-20 World Cup and would look to turn things this time around. Suryakumar Yadav, the batter in form, will have to bet on the momentum and take the team forward with his effortless batting.

Former team India head coach Ravi Shastri said in ‘Meet the Media Programme’ at Mumbai Press Club that the batter can make a significant difference at Number 4. Further, Shastri said that Hardik Pandya batting at Number 5 will help India going into the tournament.

“This is as good a batting line-up as India ever had in T20 cricket; especially with Hardik Pandya at No 5, Dinesh Karthik or Rishabh Pant at No 6, it makes a massive difference. One area they will have to pick up and start from the beginning is fielding,” Shastri said in the programme.
