In a shocking decision, the Pakistan team management axed the vice-captain Shan Masood from the playing XI of the first of the three-match ODI series against New Zealand. Notably, both teams played this match at the National Stadium in Karachi. This decision from the management drew a lot of mixed reactions from a section of Pakistan cricket fans.

Earlier, the hosts won the three-match T20I series by a margin of 2-1 under the captaincy of stand-in skipper Hardik Pandya.

Although, the Indian team will get the services resumed from the regular skipper Rohit Sharma, former skipper Virat Kohli and other senior players during the 50-overs series against Sri Lanka.
