The word ‘nepotism’ is quite a bit popular among the Indian audience who watch Bollywood as it is the place that introduced Indian fans a bit with this term. Speaking of the literal sense of nepotism, it is the use of power and position by an established individual to make the way easy for his or her family members to get a specific position or a job.
Although it is not restricted only to Bollywood where the kids of renowned actors and stars get a break easily without enduring any sort of struggle, it seems similar is the case in sports as well.
Recently, Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) went on to announce their squad for their next match in Vijay Merchant Trophy against Bihar. One thing that attracted the eyeballs of the cricket fans was the name of former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag’s elder son, Aryaveer Sehwag.

Fans questioned his selection in the squad however he didn’t get the chance to feature in the playing XI of the team. They took to Twitter to come up with different opinions and accused the DDCA of being biased while selecting the squad of Delhi.
A section of fans went on to say that Sehwag had a big role in making his son’s easy entry into the U-16 side of Delhi. Whereas some of the fans didn’t hesitate to clearly term it nepotism.
Here’s how fans reacted:

Praise the fairness of @delhi_cricket that he is only in 15 - what would have anyone done if he was in playing XI 😊

If Ananya Pandey is the right side of nepotism..Then Arjun Tendulkar is the wrong side of nepotism...#MIvsDC #IPL2022 #ArjunTendulkar #MumbaiIndians pic.twitter.com/ahjyPMHjdq

It would be an exaggeration if someone calls it the impatience of the social media trolls that they want only one chance to go after any star kid.
We’ve seen a similar in the case of Arjun Tendulkar when fans didn’t feel shy in saying that he was getting chances only because of the influence of his father and former legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar. But the youngster proved them wrong after moving to Goa and delivering some better performances.
