Apart from donning the famed blue jersey for India and the yellow one for Chennai Super Kings, MS Dhoni has also been associated with the Indian army for a long time. He was also awarded the honorary rank of lieutenant colonel in the year 2011. Although he could not give much time to the armed forces due to cricket, Dhoni, who retired from international cricket in 2020, is now relatively free from cricketing commitments.

And so rightly Dhoni has also been named in a 15-member panel run by Defense Ministry to supervise and review the National Cadet Corps (NCC). Dhoni has some illustrious names for his company as Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra, Col (Retd.) Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Rajya Sabha Member Vinay Sahasrabuddhe. The 15-member panel will be led by former lawyer Baijayant Panda.

The main agenda of the panel formed is to review NCC and suggest some relevant changes to make it correct in changing times. The panel will help NCC cadets by giving them precise opinions to help them effectively serve towards national development. Dhoni would get a chance to interact with promising and young NCC cadets and share his vast knowledge with them.

Apart from being awarded the honorary rank of lieutenant, Dhoni is also a qualified paratrooper. The 40-year-old got this honour due to successfully completing five parachute training jumps from the Indian army aircraft. Dhoni also got some time after the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2019 to train with parachute members for close to a month.

Dhoni is currently in Dubai for the UAE leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He will lead Chennai Super Kings (CSK). After completing the IPL, Dhoni will also be seen in the mentoring role for team India in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
