Bad weather has forced the fifth Twenty20 international between India and South Africa to be abandoned. Despite some consistent rain at the ground, the ground staff did well to start the game at 7:50 PM with 19 overs per side. However, the fans could only watch the game for 3.3 overs before the covers were brought back again. After 3.3 overs, India had lost two crucial wickets of Ishan Kishan (15 off 7) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (10 off 12) for 28 runs on the board.

Fans were hoping that the game would resume but persistent rain meant that the game resulted in washout. The series, as a result, has been shared with both teams winning two matches apiece.

Earlier, South Africa made a winning start to the series after beating India by 7 wickets. South Africa chased down a mammoth score of 211 runs in that game. Temba Bavuma and Co. piled on further pressure on the hosts as they went on to win the second T2OI as well by 4 wickets.

However, India kept the series alive by storming back in the third T2OI. Rishabh Pant and Co. beat South Africa by 48 runs in the third T20I to reduce the deficit to 2-1. Dinesh Karthik then notched his first ever T20I fifty to help India win the fourth T20I by a big margin of 82 runs. Fans were hoping to watch the series decider but it wasn't to be.

Nevertheless, the fans aren't too happy with the fifth T20I getting whitewashed due to rain. A lot of them took to Twitter to express their disappointment. Here's a look at some of the notable reactions:

India will next play a two-match T20I series against Ireland. The first T20I will be played on 26th June, followed by the 2nd T20I on 28th June 2022. Both the games will be played at The Village in Dublin.
