The day's first game saw Gujarat Giants (GT) beat Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 56 runs and further strengthen their position on the top of the table with 16 points off 11 games. The day's second game featured Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) squaring off against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

The home team won the toss as skipper Sanju Samson decided to bat first. They took advantage of the opportunity as they stacked up a mammoth total of 214/2. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 35 off 18 after adding 54 runs for the opening partnership with Jos Buttler. Buttler, on the other hand, went on to score 95 off 59 balls and remained unlucky not to have scored a century.

Ultimately, Sanju Samson, with an unbeaten 66 off 38, pushed the total beyond the 210-run mark. For SRH, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Marco Jansen returned with identical figures of 1/44 from their four overs. Otherwise, there was not much to note about the bowling effort from SRH.

In reply, SRH had an eventful run-chase filled with drama. The last over was one to remember as Sandeep Sharma bowled a no-ball of the last delivery and Abdul Samad cleared the boundary in the freehit to take SRH to a 4-wicket victory. Anmolpreet Singh (33 off 25), Abhishek Sharma (55 off 34), Rahul Tripathi (47 off 29), Heinrich Klaasen (26 off 12), Glenn Philips (25 off 7) and Abdul Samad (17 off 7) were all key contributors in a classic team effort. Yuzvendra Chahal returned with four wickets while Kuldip Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin had one scalp each.

The Punjab Kings (PBKS) will, after that, be hosted by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the iconic Eden Gardens, Kolkata, in the next game of the sixteenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
