Senior batter KL Rahul is coming off after recovering from an injury. He is currently leading the team India in the ongoing three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe. KL Rahul is back in international cricket after a break of more than six months. The right-hander sustained an injury of sports hernia just before the commencement of the five-match T20I series against South Africa.

He extended his thanks to the Indian Cricket Board and team management for showing trust in him for his contributions to the Indian team last few years.

While speaking to the journalists ahead of the first match against Zimbabwe, KL Rahul spoke about his doings for team India in the last years.

“I was out for two months (after IPL 2022), but the team hasn’t forgotten what I have done for two years. The backing by the management gives me the confidence,” said Rahul in the press conference.

Although, this reply from the Indian skipper didn’t go well with the Indian cricket fans and they went on to troll the batter over social media. Earlier, fans were also quite a bit dissatisfied with KL Rahul’s sudden appointment as captain after demoting the senior batter Shikhar Dhawan from the role.

The 30-year-old Bangalore-based batter has appeared only in six limited-overs games out of the total of 36 matches for the Indian since the conclusion of the T20 World Cup 2021. He made his last international appearance for the men in blue in an ODI match against West Indies at Ahmedabad in February earlier this year. He scored 49 runs with the bat in that match.

Later on, he participated in the Indian T20 League for the new entrants Lucknow Super Giants before he missed the home series against South Africa. India had also lost to South Africa by 0-3 in the series when he was leading the team earlier at the beginning of this year.
