Gujarat Titans (GT) kicked off the ongoing IPL after winning the last edition in 2022. However, currently, they are in the top position with 16 points in 11 games. Now, in the remaining three games, GT will play against Mumbai Indians (MI), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) respectively.
However, the MI and RCB clash are away matches for them while they will take on SRH in Ahmedabad. Hence, that match will be the last home match for them in the group stage before the playoff. Now, reports have come out that Hardik Pandya and his men are set to wear Lavender Coloured Kits to support the fight against Cancer during their last home game.
“We hope our actions will inspire others to take preventive measures” - Hardik Pandya
GT skipper, Hardik Pandya has also opened up about the initiative in an official release. He said: “Cancer is a battle fought by millions in India and across the globe, and as a team, we feel responsible towards raising awareness about this deadly disease. Wearing lavender jerseys is our way of showing solidarity with cancer patients, survivors, and their families. We hope our actions will inspire others to take preventive measures and support those who are fighting this battle.”
GT won their eighth game of the season by defeating Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the last game. After the win, Hardik Pandya said that it was a very satisfying victory for his team. He said: “Can't ask for anything better, especially after playing post a day's gap and in the afternoon. Rashid's catch changed the game, we started controlling the game. Both teams were driving at 100kph but that wicket caused a bump. I don't think there'll be bragging rights with Krunal. Our love is too strong, I hope he does well. I'd have been happier if things had gotten closer and he had some bragging rights too.”
