On 12 March 2023, fans were waiting eagerly waiting to see team India in action against Australia on day four of the ongoing BGT Test. India were trailing by 191 runs at the start of day four in Ahmedabad. Virat Kohli resumed the day with 59* runs along with Ravindra Jadeja scoring 16*.

So, all eyes were on Virat Kohli as he had a chance to end his century drought in the longest format of the game for the Men in Blue. Meanwhile, Jadeja failed to continue his innings as he got out for 28 runs off 84 balls. He smashed two fours and one six in his innings. They put up a partnership of 64 runs for the fourth wicket.

Then, Srikar Bharat came out to bat instead of Shreyas Iyer and fans were in shock to see that. Later, reports came out that Iyer had been taken to the hospital for scans as he felt some lower back pain. Then, Bharat looked comfortable as he scored 44 runs off 88 balls, including two fours and three sixes. He put up a solid partnership of 84 runs with Kohli. After that, Axa Patel came out and showed his class once again with the bate when it mattered most. Patel departed after scoring 79 runs off 113 balls, including five fours and four sixes. He and Kohli put up a massive partnership of 162 runs for the sixth wicket.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli continued to bat and notched up his 28th Test ton for team India. Finally, he scored a Test ton after a long gap of 1205 days. With that century, he has now scored 75 international centuries across all three formats for the Men in Blue. He departed after scoring 186 runs and the home side got bundled out for 571 runs in 178.5 overs. Thus, they gained a lead of 91 runs while both Nathan Lyon and Todd Murphy took three wickets each for the Aussies. In Australia’s second innings, Matthew Kuhnemann and Travis Head came out to bat and they finished day four after scoring just three runs in six overs without losing no wickets.
