Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli will turn 34 later this year and it is clear from his game there are still a few years of cricket left in him. The veteran right-hander has recently ended the drought of an international century after smashing the 71st ton of his international career enduring a long wait and poor run of form for three years.

He has also captained the Indian team in his celebrated international cricket career of more than 14 years. The 33-year-old has earned special respect from the legends of the game for being the most successful captain of the Indian team in the traditional format of the game.

But apart from all these accomplishments for Kohli, former veteran Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi came with something very different in his advice for Kohli. The Boom-Boom guy advised the Indian great to bid adieu to the game on a high note presently and should not wait for the time when the management might decide to drop him out of the squad.

“The way Virat has played, the start that he had to his career, there was a struggle initially before he made a name for himself. He is a champion and I believe there comes a stage when you are headed towards retirement. But in that scenario, the aim should be to go out on a high,” said Afridi in during a conversation on Samaa TV.

“It shouldn't reach a stage where you are dropped from the team and instead when you are at your peak. It seldom happens though. Very few players, especially cricketers from Asia Cup make that decision, but I feel when Virat does it, he will do it style and probably in the same manner in which he started his career,” he added later.

Apart from Afridi’s remarks, looking at Kohli’s most recent outings, then he impressed everyone with his stellar outings in the recently-concluded Asia Cup 2022. The Delhi batter ended up as the highest run-scorer for India in the tournament and also as the second highest run-scorer among all participating teams.
