India and New Zealand locked horns in the second of the three-match ODI series at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur. Notably, it was also the first international match hosted by Raipur. The hosts’ skipper Rohit Sharma won the flip of the coin and asked the visitors to bat first on the tricky surface in Raipur.

Bowling first, the Indian bowling lineup completely rattled the Kiwi batting line up and the former scalped five wickets for New Zealand only on the score of 15 runs in 10.3 overs. Later on, the Indian bowlers strengthened their clutches over Tom Latham’s men and bundled up them only on the total score of 108 runs in 34.3 overs.

While chasing the target, the men in blue comfortably chased down the target only in 20.1 overs and won the match by 8 wickets.

The Indian cricket fans are also overwhelmed by another consecutive series win for Team India. Subsequently, the fans took to the micro-blogging site Twitter and lavished the praises on Rohit Sharma & co. for outstanding performance in the penultimate fixture of the three-match ODI series.

The Indian bowlers completely terrorized the batting lineup of New Zealand as the latter couldn’t even touch the double-digit score after the end of six overs. Senior pacer Mohammed Shami led the Indian bowling dominance by scalping 3 wickets at the cost of only 18 runs in 6 overs. He conceded runs with an amazing economy rate of 3.00 including a maiden over to his name.

Apart from Shami, Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep also claimed two scalps each alongside one wicket-each taken by Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, and Kuldeep Yadav.

Glenn Phillips was the only highest run-scorer in New Zealand’s innings as he played a crucial knock of 36 runs with five boundaries. Besides, Phillips, the first ODI’s centurion star Michael Bracewell also scored 22 runs followed by a 27-run knock by Mitchell Santner. Thanks to these knocks, New Zealand managed to post a three-digit total of 108 runs against India.

While chasing the target, the men in blue didn’t face any trouble as the opening pair of skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill provided a strong foundation of 72 runs for the first wicket. Rohit Sharma fell prey to a leg before the wicket off Kiwi pacer Henry Shipley in the 15th over of the match.

Later on, India chased down the target in overs and scored 111 runs for the loss of two wickets and won the match by 8 wickets.

Now, India has taken an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the three-match ODI series against New  Zealand before heading to the last match of the series at the Holkar Stadium in Indore on Tuesday, the 24th of January.
