IPL 2025: 4 Teams that will qualify for the playoffs

The race for the playoffs in the ongoing IPL 2025 is intensifying, with teams giving their all to secure a top-four finish. While some teams began the tournament strongly but are now struggling to maintain their momentum, others have taken the opposite path.

A prime example is the Mumbai Indians (MI), who had a slow start to the season but have made a remarkable comeback as the tournament has progressed. Their resurgence has added a new dimension to the playoff battle, making every match crucial from here on.

Here are the four teams that will qualify for the playoffs in the IPL 2025

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)

RCB are currently leading the points table with 14 points from 10 matches and a healthy net run rate of +0.521. They still have four group-stage matches left to play—against CSK, KKR, LSG, and SRH.

Given their strong momentum and current form, along with the inconsistent performances of the teams they are set to face, RCB have a strong chance of finishing in the top two. Securing one of those positions would qualify them for the first qualifier.

Mumbai Indians (MI)

Advertisment

Mumbai Indians (MI) had a disappointing start to IPL 2025, winning just one of their first five games. However, they have turned things around remarkably with five consecutive wins. As a result, they now sit in second place with 12 points from 10 matches and an impressive net run rate of +0.889.

Their remaining fixtures are against Rajasthan Royals (RR), Punjab Kings (PBKS), Delhi Capitals (DC), and Gujarat Titans (GT). Notably, three of these opponents are still in the playoff race, making these clashes crucial in determining MI's fate. Given their current momentum, MI will be confident about picking up enough points to secure a spot in the playoffs.

Gujarat Titans (GT)

GT had an opportunity to reclaim the top spot in the points table by defeating RR in Jaipur. However, a historic knock by Vaibhav Suryavanshi denied Shubman Gill and his team a crucial win. As a result, GT currently sit third with 12 points from nine games and a strong net run rate of +0.748.

Looking ahead, GT have five group-stage matches remaining — three of which will be played at home in Ahmedabad (against LSG, CSK, and SRH) and two away fixtures (against MI and DC). Given their impressive record at home, Gill and his men will be confident of picking up the required wins to secure a playoff spot.

Delhi Capitals (DC)

DC are currently placed fourth in the IPL 2025 standings with 12 points from nine matches and a healthy net run rate of +0.482. However, their recent form has raised some concerns among fans, as they have lost three of their last five games.

With five group-stage matches remaining, DC will face tough challenges against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Mumbai Indians (MI), Gujarat Titans (GT), Punjab Kings (PBKS), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Among these, the fixtures against MI, GT, and PBKS will be especially crucial, as all three sides are in the playoff race. Still, with the quality and depth in their squad, DC are well-positioned to pick up the necessary points and secure a playoff berth.
