Inaugural World 20-20 Champions India has been eliminated from the eighth edition of the 20-20 World Cup at the hands of England in the second semi-final of the tournament. Skipper Rohit Sharma was seen broken down in tears as the Indian team’s dream to lift the trophy for the second time was crushed once again and went into a further wait for two years.

Although Rohit Sharma has another chance to end his career with a World Cup title as the ODI World Cup 2023 is scheduled to play the next year 2023 in India. Apart from the forgettable outing in the 20-20 World Cup 2022, the men in blue are still returning with prize money for ending up the campaign in the semi-finals of the tournament.

Here's a look at the Prize Money India is supposed to receive

The governing body of cricket announced the prize money for the teams two months back in September. Prize money of $400,000 each for the losing teams in the semi-finals of the tournament. So, Kane Williamson-led New Zealand and Rohit Sharma’s men will get this prize money as both teams got eliminated from the tournament losing at the hands of Pakistan and England respectively.

Speaking in Indian currency, the men in blue will get a total prize money of INR 3 crore and 22 lakhs. Apart from this, the 2007 20-20 World Cup winners will also get INR 1 crore and 28 lakhs for registering a win in the group 2022.

Speaking of India’s campaign in the eighth edition of the 20-20 World Cup, they entered into the semi-finals as the table toppers of Group 1 after defeating Zimbabwe in the last super-12 match. On the other hand, the men in green Pakistan who were at the second spot in Group 2 points table are now in the finals of the tournament. Babar Azam’s men will face England in the title clash of the tournament.

Notably, Pakistan and England will be facing each other in a World Cup final after 30 years since 1992, and that too at the same venue of the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
