Jofra Archer is arguably one of the best T20 bowlers in the world right now. When it comes to his record in the Indian T20 League, he has picked 46 wickets in 35 games at an average of 21.33. Besides he won the MVP award during the 2020 edition as well.

Thus, Mumbai purchased him during the 2022 mega auction for INR 8 crore, despite knowing that he will only be available during the 2023 edition. However, Archer has suffered yet another injury, which has forced him to skip the upcoming English summer. Hence, his fragile body might not allow him to feature in the 16th edition of the league as well. Today, we shall be taking a look at three pacers Mumbai can target if Jofra Archer is ruled out of the Indian T20 League 2023.

1) Mitchell Starc:

Mitchell Starc is an ideal replacement for Jofra Archer. Like the English pacer, the 32-year-old can generate the extra pace as well. Besides, he too is a superb death over.

Moreover, he can get the new ball to swing as well. Add to that his hitting-ability. It is to be noted that Starc has picked 34 wickets in 27 Indian T20 League games, and is no stranger to the cash-rich league.

2) Sheldon Cottrell:

Sheldon Cottrell is a superb new-ball bowler. Moreover, he is a wicket-taker. In the 41 T20Is he has played so far, the pacer has picked 48 wickets at an average of 23.15. His economy rate is 7.81, which is decent in the shortest format of the game.

Besides, Cottrell has played six Indian T20 League games. Having him in the side gives Mumbai the luxury to save Jasprit Bumrah. It gives him the opportunity to bowl an extra over at the death.

3) Saqib Mahmood:

Saqib Mahmood is currently one of the most talented pacers in England. His USP is to hit the deck hard. The pacer has already shown glimpses of his potential.

Like Archer, Mahmood can bowl well with the new ball. With age on his side, he can go on to be a long term investment for the five-time champions.
