The Indian Cricket Board have announced the team for the upcoming bilateral One-Day international series against Australia. Jasprit Bumrah remains the usual absentee whereas Ravindra Jadeja and Jaydev Unadkat are making it to the national team after a long lay-offs because of injury and humongous competition, respectively.
Jasprit Bumrah, the senior fast bowler and the mainstay of the bowling attack, is a long absentee for the national side. Bumrah was sidelined in August owing to a back spasm. He was rushed into National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru, but was named for the series against Australia and South Africa in 2022.
Despite missing the first game of the bilateral series against Australia, he played the next two matches. However, due to niggle, the right arm fast bowler missed out on the South Africa series. Post that, the player is yet to feature for India in any game.
Keeping his injury record in mind, the Indian Cricket Board has kept him away from the national side. With the World Cup nearing, the board is not willing to risk the fast bowler. However, the fans are not happy with the development. On the social media platforms, the trolls have resurfaced, stating that the player will feature for the Mumbai outfit in the Indian T20 League.
On the other hand, Ravindra Jadeja is making his return to the national side after recovering from knee injury. He is in red fiery form at the moment in the longest format of the game. Against Australia, he picked seven wickets in the second innings to dismantle them for a meager 114.
Also, Jaydev Unadkat is given a chance to return to the national side after ten years. Indian Cricket Board has rewarded him for his fine performances in the domestic circuit. He played in the blues for the last time in 2013 against West Indies.
