All the 10 franchises in the Indian T20 League announced their list of retained and released players on Tuesday ahead of the mini-auction, which is scheduled to take place on 23rd December 2022.

Amidst that, numerous players have also been traded during the trading window. Big names such as Lockie Ferguson, Jason Behrenorff, Shardul Thakur, etc. will be playing for different franchises in the next edition. 

Well, this isn’t the first time that players have been traded prior to the auction. A lot of big players were traded in the past as well, and it, actually, worked wonders in their careers.

5. Parthiv Patel

Former Indian batter, Parthiv Patel was known to give quick-fire starts in the powerplay. During his career, he played for numerous franchises in the cash-rich league.

The southpaw was part of the Bangalore franchise in the initial years of his career. However, he made immense growth as a cricketer after being traded to Mumbai ahead of the 2015 edition. 

Parthiv Patel was part of the team that won the 2015 and 2017 edition of the tournament. 

4. Dinesh Karthik -2012 edition

Dinesh Karthik was brought into the Mumbai team in the 2012 edition and it saw a change of fortunes in his Indian T20 League career. Karthik enjoyed two outstanding seasons with the franchise and also found him name in India’s squad for the Champions Trophy in 2013. 

3. Shardul Thakur- 2017

Shardul Thakur became a prominent name after he moved to the Pune franchise in the 2017 edition and played under the leadership of MS Dhoni. He later joined Chennai in 2018. There is no denying that Thakur’s switch from Punjab to Pune skyrocketed his career. 

2. Manish Pandey

Ahead of the 2009 edition of the Indian T20 League, Manish Pandey moved from Mumbai to the Bangalore franchise and it worked wonders for his professional career. 

Turning up for a new franchise, Pandey became the first Indian player to score a century in the tournament’s history. That season, he scored 168 runs in just 5 matches at an astonishing average of 84.00. 

1. KL Rahul – 2016 edition

KL Rahul is another big name whose fortunes turned around when he was moved to a different franchise. The Indian opener switched from Hyderabad to Bangalore in the 2016 edition and it proved to be a game-changer for him. 

He went on to score a truckload of runs and made a name for himself in world cricket.
