For the first time in the ongoing Indian T20 League 2022, Delhi have won two consecutive matches. It came at an ideal time as this victory has massively boosted their chances of making it to the playoffs. A comprehensive performance by the Rishabh Pant-led side saw them beat Punjab by 17 runs.

It is to be noted that the conditions were spin-friendly, and batters struggled to get going. After winning the toss, the Punjab-based franchise decided to bowl first. They had an ideal start as David Warner was dismissed in the first ball of the match. However, Sarfraz Khan and Mitchell Marsh took the attack to the opposition. The 24-year-old scored a 16-ball 32 before being dismissed in the fifth over.

However, Marsh carried on, and went on to play a gem of a knock. He scored 63 runs from 48 balls. While his knock came at a strike rate of 131.25, it consisted of four fours and three sixes. He ensured that Delhi got to a good score. Contrary to the perception of his critics, he was able to play the spinners without too many issues.

Thus, Delhi scored 159 in the first innings, and lost seven wickets in the process. As far as Punjab's bowlers are concerned, Liam Livingstone was superb as he picked three wickets. As for the second innings, Punjab failed to capitalize on their start, and were underwhelming with the bat.

They kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Besides, none of their batters took the responsibility to play the rescue act. The ball was gripping and turning and thus, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel took advantage of the same. Both took two wickets each. However, Shardul Thakur was the pick of the bowlers as he took a brilliant four-fer.

At the end, Punjab fell short of their target by 17 runs. Thus this is their seventh loss in 13 games. As for the Delhi-based franchise, they have now won seven out of their 13 games. Fans were quick to post some hilarious memes on today's game.
