Mumbai are positioned at the bottom, having managed only 2 wins in 10 matches. They are out of the race for the playoffs but are coming into this game on the back of two consecutive wins. Rohit Sharma and Co. would be keen to continue the winning momentum.

On the other hand, Kolkata’s chances of making a top-four finish are hanging by a thread. Shreyas Iyer and Co. have only managed to secure 4 wins in 11 matches, and, are currently languishing at number 8 on the table.

Mumbai

Mumbai have registered two wins in their last two matches. They would be happy to win the two games and would be keen to end their season on a high. Rohit Sharma and Co. notched 177 runs in their last game against Gujarat.

Openers finally gave them a good start and it's a big positive for them. Besides, Tim David has been proving to be future prospect for Mumbai in the years to come. Pollard has been enduring a lean run and Mumbai might drop him in the next game.

Players to watch out for:

  1. Rohit Sharma

Skipper Rohit Sharma looked at his very best in the last game. He hit 5 fours and 1 six en-route to his 29-ball 45. But, once again, failed to convert that start into a big score. He has returned to form and would be eying a big knock on Monday

  1. Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan also played at his usual aggressive manner and was timing the ball beautifully. He played an unbeaten knock of 45 runs in just 29 balls, a knock which was laced with 5 fours and 1 six. He too is expected to come good in the next game.

  1. Tim David

Given how Tim David is hitting sixes at the moment, Mumbai would be regretting for not including him in the playing XI in the previous game. David has exhibited brutal hitting in the last couple of games and could be a future prospect for the franchise. He will be a player to watch out for. In the last game, Tim David scored 44 runs in just 21 deliveries, a knock which was studded with 2 fours and 4 sixes.

Probable Playing XI:

Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Tim David, Kieron Pollard, Daniel Sams, Murugan Ashwin, Kumar Kartikeya, Jasprit Bumrah, Riley Meredith

Kolkata:

Kolkata are currently in dire straits. They suffered a massive 75-run defeat in the last game at the hands of Lucknow. In pursuit of a 176-run total, Kolkata were bundled out for just 101 runs on the board. The likes of Shreyas Iyer, Nitish Rana, Aaron Finch etc need to take some responsibility on their shoulders and put in impactful performances with the bat.

Players to watch out for:

  1. Andre Russell

He was the only shining light in the batting department in the last match for Kolkata. Russell smacked 41 runs in 27 balls and revived some hopes for Kolkata to win the game. He is in pretty good form with the bat and is expected to play a big knock on Monday.

  1. Tim Southee

Tim Southee has been bowling well consistently since making his return in the playing XI. He has been bowling in good areas and isn’t allowing the opposition batters to attack him freely. He returned with bowling figures of 1 for 20 in the last game.

  1. Sunil Narine

Sunil Narine too has been a consistent performer for the team this season. He picked 1 for 20 in his 4-over spell in the last match and also scored 22 off 12 balls with the bat. He will be one of the key players for the team ahead of the game on Monday.

Probable Playing XI:

Aaron Finch, Baba Indrajith (wk), Shreyas Iyer (c), Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh, Anukul Roy, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Tim Southee, Harshit Rana, Umesh Yadav

Pitch Report:

The 56th match is slated to be played between Mumbai and Kolkata at DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai. The pitch isn’t too great for the batters as it’s slightly on the slower side. There will be grip and turn for the spinners and anything between 160 and 180 should be a par score here. Both teams should look to bowl first upon winning the toss.
