Rajasthan are coming into this game on the back of a three-run win over Lucknow. Riding on Shimron Hetmyer’s 59-run in 36 balls, Rajasthan managed to score 165 runs in the first innings.

In reply, Lucknow were restricted to 162. It was a collective effort from the team which helped them return to winning ways. Though, they would be wanting to exhibit an improved performance with the bat.

Players to watch out for:

  1. Trent Boult

Trent Boult bowled arguably the best delivery in the Indian T20 League 2022 to KL Rahul on the first ball of the second innings in Rajasthan’s last game. He exhibited a sensational spell of the 2 for 30 and is likely to replicate a similar performance on Thursday as well.

  1. Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal is the man in form. He has been exhibiting match-winning performances for Rajasthan in the ongoing edition. Chahal currently has taken the most wickets in the tournament. In 4 matches, he has managed to pick 11 wickets at 9.45.

  1. Jos Buttler

In just 4 games, Jos Buttler already has one century and one half-century to his name. He currently has the most runs in the ongoing edition of the tournament. In 4 matches, he has scored 218 runs at an average and strike rate of 72.67 and 141.56 respectively.

Probable Playing XI:

Jos Buttler, Devdutt Padikkal, Sanju Samson (c & wk), Rassie van der Dussen, Shimron Hetmyer, Riyan Parag, Kuldeep Sen, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal

Gujarat:

Gujarat suffered their first-ever defeat in the Indian T20 League 2022 at the hands of Hyderabad in their last match. Barring Hardik Pandya and Abhinav Manohar, Gujarat’s batters failed to deliver.

They were restricted to 162 runs in the first innings. The bowling unit too failed to hit the straps. Hyderabad chased down the score without much fuss. Senior pacers, namely Shami and Ferguson need to step up to the plate ahead of their next game on Thursday.

Players to watch out for:

  1. Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya scored his first half-century for Gujarat in the Indian T20 League 2022 during the last game. He also returned with great bowling figures (1 for 27 in 4 overs) in the match. Pandya, however, hasn’t looked as destructive as the fans expect him to be. Once again on Thursday, he will have a crucial role to play for the team.

  1. Shubman Gill

After scoring two consecutive half-centuries, Gill got out cheaply in the last game against Hyderabad. He made 7 runs in 9 balls but is expected to bounce back strongly. He will have the responsibility of getting the team off to a solid start.

  1. Rashid Khan

Rashid Khan will be their biggest bet in the bowling department. He has proved to be effective in all four games played so far. Once again, on Thursday, his four-over spell will prove crucial in the game.

Probable Playing XI:

Matthew Wade (wk), Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Hardik Pandya (c), David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Abhinav Manohar, Rashid Khan, Lockie Ferguson, Mohammed Shami, Darshan Nalkande

Match Details:

Date: 14th April 2022

Venue: Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai

Time: 7:30 PM

Pitch Report:

The 22nd match between Chennai and Bangalore was held here on Tuesday. The pitch was slightly on the slower side. Although the ball wasn't coming on nicely to the bat, there was good bounce. Over 400 runs were scored in that game and, thus, you can expect another high-scoring contest here on Thursday. Both teams would look to bowl first upon winning the toss.
