Jofra Archer has been injured for quite a while now. England's star pacer not only missed the 2021 edition of the Indian T20 league, but also missed the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. As a matter of fact, there were a lot of questions regarding his availability for the 2022 edition of the toughest league.

Prior to the mega auction, he had registered his name, but it was mentioned that he will only be available to play the 2023 edition. Despite that, several teams engaged in a bidding war in order to acquire his services. In the end, it was Mumbai who purchased him for INR 8 crore. Thus, several fans were excited to watch the duo of Archer and Jasprit Bumrah bowl together.
There were a few speculations regarding his availability for the 15th edition of the league In a recent interview with Mumbai, Archer clearly mentioned that he will only be available during the 2023 edition. He gave an update on his injury as well.
"As it stands, it was always going to be next year. But I think I have progressed a bit faster than we all thought we would have which is still good but it's still gonna be next year. I don't want to get anyone's hopes up too high. I don't want to disappoint anyone. So I'm going to say next year," said Jofra Archer.
It is to be noted that the Indian T20 league's chief operating officer Hemang Amin had stated before the auction that Archer's name will be called up only during the accelerated auction. He had also mentioned that the team which managed to purchase him wouldn't be allowed to announce a replacement for him in the 2022 edition.
"The ECB has registered Jofra Archer for the auction with a view to potential participation in 2023 and 2024, as due to his current injury it is unlikely that he can participate in the Indian T20 league 2022. Therefore, his name has been included in the auction list, but he won't feature in the marquee or other sets to be presented.
"He will be available to be called during the accelerated auction and whoever picks him will not get a replacement player for ITL 2022 season for his place as he is already injured and unlikely to participate in ITL 2022 season," Amin had told the franchises prior to the mega auction.
