Speaking of thrillers between the two nations, one has to agree that Mohali alone has witnessed a few thrilling matches between the two nations. 1) India vs Australia, 4th ODI, Mohali - March 10, 2019

It turned out to be a high scoring match between the two nations. Mohali is a high scoring ground and one can expect a match between two heavyweights to turn out to be a cracker. Speaking of the match, India won the toss and elected to bat first. On the back of a stellar innings from Shikhar Dhawan’s,  India put on a total of 358. 

Australia looked on fire that night and Peter Handscomb scored a valiant century against a fiery Indian pace attack. However, after a collapse, Ashton Turner scored a 43-ball 84 to clinch the win for the Baggy Greens with just 13 balls to spare.

2) India vs Australia, 3rd ODI, Mohali - October 19, 2013

Another great match in the history of Mohali stadium. Needless to say, Mohali alone has witnessed numerous stunners between the two teams and this game was no exception. After being told to bat first, India put on a total of 303 in 50 overs on the back of a stunning century from MS Dhoni. 

However, the dreams shattered for team India when James Faulkner marked the crease and stunned everyone with his 29-ball 64 runs. The yellow unit pulled off a thriller and won the match with just three balls to spare. Justifiably, James Faulkner turned out to be the man of the match that night. 

3) India vs Australia, 20-20 World Cup 2016, Mohali - March 27, 2016

This match made Virat Kohli a superstar and the legendary Indian star played a stupendous knock for India. After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Australia put on a total of 160 for the loss of six wickets. 

However, the chase was not easy for the Men in Blue until Virat Kohli stood up for the occasion. The 33-year-old amassed 82 runs off 51 balls and helped team India clinch a thriller with just five balls to spare. Virat Kohli was rightfully adjourned the player of the match for his thundering innings. 

4) India vs Australia, 1st Test, Mohali - October 1 - 5, 2010

This will go down as one of the greatest ever test matches played in India. Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. After putting on a total of 428, India replied with 408 in the first innings. 

However, the Men in Blue bowlers did a splendid job to restrict the Baggy Greens to just 192 in the second innings. Chasing a target of 216, India lost wickets in quick succession and VVS Laxman was the sole fighter. He put on a stellar show and remained unbeaten at 73 till the end. India clinched the match with just one wicket to spare. 

5) India vs Australia, 1st T20I, Mohali - September 20, 2022

The Australian skipper Aaron Finch won the toss and elected to field first in the three-match T20I series. The match out to be a cracker yet again as India put on a massive total of 208 on board. Hardik Pandya outclassed with the bat with his unbeaten 71 off 30 balls. 

However, Australian batter Cameron Green turned out to be a beast and scored a quick 61 off 30 balls. When everyone anticipated India to win after Australia collapsed in the middle overs, Matthew Wade came back harder and remained unbeaten at 45 to take the team home. The Baggy Greens clinched the match with four balls to spare.
