As per reports, the Indian Cricket Board has asked all the players, who are selected for the upcoming T20 series against South Africa, to appear for a fitness Test by June 5 at the NCA. The board wants to make sure that all the players are fit ahead of an important series against the Proteas.

“All players for South Africa series will have to assemble for a fitness camp at NCA. It’s important as many of them are carrying niggles. Harshal still has stitches and we want to make sure everything is fine,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

NCA director, VVS Laxman will be present over there and he will oversee the proceedings alongside the physio Nitin Patel. After appearing for the Test in Bengaluru, the squad will take the flight to Delhi to play the first T20I of the five-match series, scheduled to start on 7th June 2022.

Earlier, it was reported that team India would play the T20 series with VVS Laxman as head coach. However, now, it has been learned that Rahul Dravid wants to be available for the series and is ready to fly out to England after the conclusion of the home series.

“Rahul wants to be available for the South Africa series. The idea was that he would be travelling with the England squad with Laxman taking charge of the South Africa series. But Rahul wants to oversee everything before flying out to England. We still have a few days and the itinerary should be clear in next few days,” the BCCI official said.

For the unversed, the Indian Cricket Board has announced two different squads for the T20 series against South Africa and a re-scheduled Test match against England. The Board, however, is yet to announce squad for the limited-overs series against England, which will be followed after the rescheduled Test.
