The last 10-12 months haven't really been great for Hardik Pandya. Not only has he struggled with his injuries, but he has also struggled to bowl in the recent past. Despite featuring in the ICC T20 WC 2021, he hardly bowled for India during the tournament.

Moreover, when it comes to the Indian T20 league, Mumbai Indians decided not to retain him ahead of the mega auction. However, with him being team Ahmedabad's captain, he is expected to regain full fitness. Thus, Sourav Ganguly recently spoke about him as well.

He said that Pandya was given a break so that he can completely recover. The BCCI president expected him to play the upcoming Ranji Trophy to start off. Further on, he added that the Indian T20 league will be a platform where the all-rounder's fitness and form will be checked.

"Hardik was injured and a break was given to him to completely recover, so that he can continue to serve Indian cricket for a long period of time. I believe I will see him play some Ranji Trophy to start with. I expect him to bowl a lot more overs and his body will get stronger," said Sourav Ganguly, as quoted by NDTV Sports

"Also he is now captain of Ahmedabad IPL and that will be a platform where his form and fitness will be checked by selectors. Accordingly, they will take a call," he added.

In the meanwhile, Ganguly confirmed that there won't be any spectators for the first ODI between India and the West Indies. It is to be noted that this game, which is going to be played on December 6, will be India's 1000th 50-over game. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there won't be any celebrations for the same.

"No, nothing as such as everything is being held in the bubble. We have to maintain the COVID-19 protocols so yes elaborate celebrations won't be possible and in any case matches are being held behind closed door," said Ganguly.
