Suryakumar Yadav is one of India’s recent finds and it has helped the team a lot. If one has to be honest, India lacked a proper number four batter and things have changed a lot since his arrival. The player played a splendid inning in the third T20I against Australia.

Speaking of the batter, he lifted the team and provided team India with a much-needed impetus in the middle-order. The Indian team has been heavily dependent on the top three and Suryakumar Yadav has changed things up for India. Recently, South African cricketer Vernon Philander heaped praise on the Indian batter but he rather had to face backlash for doing that.

“This kid can play. Wow exciting to watch,” Vernon Philander wrote on Twitter.

Although the intent was right but calling him a kid did not go well with the Indian fans. Suryakumar Yadav has been a part of the Indian setup of late and the only format he is yet to make a mark on is in Tests.

Suryakumar Yadav’s brilliance

Speaking of his inning in Sunday’s match, Suryakumar Yadav scored a valiant 69 off 36 balls at a strike rate of 191.67. His inning received a lot of appreciation and many former cricketers heaped praise on the youngster. The 32-year-old is the leading run-scorer in T20Is in 2022 and he will look to make it count in the upcoming 20-20 World Cup 2022 as well.

The Indian batter has amassed as many as 682 runs in the current year itself. To add to it, the player also has a century to his name in the shortest format. Suryakumar Yadav received the man of the match award for his exemplary inning in the third T20I against Australia.

The 32-year-old opined while receiving the award that he wanted to do well for India. Further commenting on his batting position, he said that he loves batting at number four and assured of carrying on with the form.

In that situation I thought let me take my chance. I had two three shots in mind but I tried to hit over mid-off only. My mindset is pretty clear. Loving it at No. 4. There will be tough challenge but you got to express yourself and been a little smart as well,” Suryakumar Yadav said.
