The first Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy took place in Nagpur on 9 February 2023. Both India and Australia were looking for a positive start. Speaking of the match, Rohit Sharma lost the toss and Australia opted to bat first. For the visitors, David Warner and Usman Khawaja came out to open the innings.

But, the Indian pacers were on a roll as they took both those wickets in the first three overs only. Usman Khawaja scored only one runs off three balls. Mohammed Siraj took the wicket on his first ball of the match. It was the first ball of the second over of Australia’s innings. Siraj bowled a seam-up outswinger.

Australia lost only two wickets in the first session of the first Test

The ball came into the left-hander and it struck him on his pads. However, the umpire did not give him out despite a strong appeal from the Indian players. Then, Rohit Sharma went for the DRS. In replays, it got confirmed that the ball hit the stumps, and the umpire needed to overturn his decision. Thus, Men in Blue managed a successful review and Khawaja went for just one run off three balls. But, regarding that dismissal, a renowned Australian news channel, ‘Fox Cricket’ came up with a tweet to take a dig at team India.

They claimed that the ball tracker must be broken as it should miss the stumps. They shared the image of that decision with a caption: “Ball tracker broken?” Aussies left stunned just minutes into first Test by "interesting" DRS moment >>”. The same Australian media made headlines earlier also when they shared some pictures of the pitch and accused team India of “straight-up pitch doctoring” the Nagpur pitch. As per their reports, only the centre of the Nagpur wicket was watered and rolled while the area where bowlers will target left-handers was left bone dry. It has happened on either end of the pitch. Hence, it has been claimed that this is just a deliberate ploy for team India for all the left-handed batters of Australia. So, after such an allegation on the ball tracker over the dismissal of Khawaja, fans slammed the Australian media on Twitter.
