When asked about Delhi's Captain for ITL2023, Ganguly said, "David Warner is looking forward to leading the side. He's always up for the challenge, and he's a great player. He has got a lot of runs and experience under his belt."

Earlier, Ganguly was spotted with India star Prithvi Shaw in the training camp. A lot has been speculated on the young batter's season and preparations. Head coach Ricky Ponting said, "I think we are going to see the real Prithvi Shaw this season," Ponting said. "He's in a better physical shape than I've ever seen him before. I spoke to him the other day about his attitude, the way he's working, and how things are going. I honestly feel that this is going to be his biggest season in the IPL. He just has that different look in his eye this year. You can see, he's hungrier than ever."

Ahead of the upcoming Indian T20 League, head coach of Delhi Ricky Ponting and director of cricket Sourav Ganguly got back together. While Ganguly has returned as Cricket Director, Ponting will maintain his coaching position. The franchise previously had a mentor's relationship with the former Indian Cricket Board president in 2019.
