India and South Africa locked horns in the first of the three-match ODI series at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. The match was reduced to a game of 40 overs per side due to the rain. Eventually, the hosts lost the match by nine runs and fell short of the target of 250 runs posted by the South Africans.
Speaking of the reasons behind India’s defeat in the opening match of the series, then there is a lot to talk about it. Starting with poor bowling and then slow batting by the top four batters of the team in the batting order. Apart from batting and bowling, the fielding from the Indian players also worked as a pinch of salt in the wounds for the Indian cricket fans.
Everything went hilarious and sarcastic when a ball boy outside the boundary happened to catch a massive six smashed by senior South African batter David Miller. This stunner taken by the ball boy gave a chance for the Indian cricket fans to school the Indian fielders after their poor display in the first ODI of the series.
Here’s how fans reacted to the catch taken by the ball boy amidst the poor fielding of the Indians on the field:
The ball boy took a fine catch and showed Indian players how to take the catches.#IndvsSAodi

Get that ball boy in as a sub. Cool as a cucumber in taking that catch. Showing how it's done to the Indian fielders. #indvsa

The ball boy didn’t even flinch to take that catch. Then there are Siraj and Ravi Bishnoi. Fielding has become a joke.

Talking a bit more about the Indian fielding, then they dropped numerous catches that cost the match for the Indian team in the end. There were three easy catches that Indian fielders happened to drop on two successive balls in the 38th over of the South African innings.
Mohammed Siraj dropped a catch of Heinrich Klassen and let the fans laugh over him. Later on, Ravi Bishnoi gave a lifeline to Miller with a similar failed effort to that of Mohammed Siraj.
In the same sequence, David Miller smashed the fourth ball of the over out of the boundary line where a ball boy was standing. The ball boy didn’t bother a bit to take that catch. The visuals of the ball boy taking a catch so comfortably immediately went viral over social media within minutes of being shared on Twitter.
