The Indian T20 League mini-auction is all set to take place on December 23 in Kochi. Ahead of the auction, the franchises have until November 15 to submit the list of players they have retained and released. The Bangalore franchise once again failed to win the competition last year after they lost to Rajasthan in Qualifier 2. The Faf du Plessis led side will be looking for a change of fortunes in the next year’s edition as they will once again aim to prepare a strong squad in the upcoming mini-auction. On that note, let’s take a look at five players Bangalore can release ahead of the mini-auction:

1. Luvnith Sisodia

The franchise picked the talented Sisodia in the squad who plays for Karnataka in the domestic circuit. However, 22-year-old got injured in the early stage of the competition and was ruled out for the whole season. He got replaced by Rajat Patidar who took the T20 league by storm with his breathtaking performances. As Patidhar has sealed his place in the team, the team management will look to release Sisodia ahead of the mini-auction.

2. Sherfane Rutherford

Rutherford was brought into the side for his big-hitting skills after his stupendous performance in the Caribbean Premier League 2021. He was given a run in the 2022 season as Glenn Maxwell was unavailable for the initial matches.

However, the southpaw failed to leave a mark in the two innings he batted and could only score 33 runs at a below-par strike rate of 66.00. After having a miserable season, it’s highly unlikely that the team management will retain Rutherford.

3. David Willey

David Willey is one of the most valuable players in T20 cricket all around the world due to his all round ability. However, the England all-rounder played four games for Bangalore and managed to scalp just one wicket. He also couldn’t contribute much with the bat and scored mere 18 runs at a strike rate of 60.00. Despite being a star for his national side, the team management will look to release Willey and rope in a better replacement for the all rounder in the mini-auction.

4, Karn Sharma

Karn Sharma is one of the experienced candidates in the Bangalore franchise having played 68 matches in the Indian T20 League. However, the experienced campaigner failed to find a place in the XI as the team already had star Sri Lanka wrist spinner Wanindu Hasaranga who has been enjoying great success of late. Heading into the auction, the team will look to release Sharma as allrounder Shahbaz Ahmed and Hasaranga will be once again expected to continue the good work they did last year.

5 Jason Behrendorff

The left-arm seamer was picked by the Bangalore franchise for his ability to rattle top order with his exceptional control on swing. Australia's Jason Behrendorff was unavailable for selection during the early phase of the competition in 2022 due to national commitments.

Upon his return, he couldn’t find a place in the eleven as his national teammate Josh Hazlewood was doing a fine job. He didn’t get a game in the entire season which could be an indicator of the fact the team management will be looking to part ways with him for the upcoming edition.
