'Feeling very sad' - Fans get angry at third umpire for the controversial dismissal of Pathum Nissanka

Sri Lanka and Afghanistan are playing against each other in the inaugural match of the Asia Cup 2022. Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi elected to bowl first after winning the toss and currently, Sri Lanka is in very miserable condition during the match. They have lost eight wickets only on the score of 73 runs.

Apart from that, there has been a controversial incident during the match. It all happened at the time of the dismissal of Sri Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka. He got out at the last ball of the second over in Naveen-ul-Haq’s over.

Following the dismissal, it quickly emerged into a controversy on the Twitter and fans called him ‘unlucky’. They also compared the umpire with the former veteran and controversial umpire Steve Buckner.

Fans reacted furiously to the decision of the third umpire

Actually, Sri Lanka went on to review the decision given by the on-field umpire, eventually, the third umpire stayed with the original decision and declared Nissanka out. Speaking of the incident, then the Sri Lankan batter went on to play the ball towards mid-on and according to the umpires, the ball took the edge of the bat. But apart from that, there was something else visible in the ultra-edge, it was showing a small movement but it was not clear if the ball hit the spikes. So, the third umpire came up with a decision to declare him out.

Pathum Nissanka was given out. The murmur was so slightest that you could question the ultra edge. But the bat was really close to ball and the umpire gave out on the field.

It was the time when Sri Lanka lost their three wickets only on the score of five runs in the second over. Sri Lankan fans went furious over the umpires. The team is currently in a very difficult position as they have lost the nine wickets at the time this story is being written.
