The star Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan attracted the eyeballs of the entire cricketing fraternity after smashing the fastest double century in ODI cricket. The 24-year-old completed his double ton only on 126 balls during the Chattogram ODI against Bangladesh back in the month of December 2022.
But now, the southpaw has fallen on the receiving end of the trolls and criticism from a section of the Indian Cricket fans for his poor run of form in the recently concluded T20I series against Sri Lanka.
Jharkhand wicketkeeper-batter could score only 40 runs in the three innings with a poor average of 13.33 and not even a single half-century to his name. The fans took to Twitter and trolled him by saying that it is premature to dub Ishan’s place as permanent in the lineup of the men in blue.
Here’s how fans reacted to Ishan’s batting misery in the series against Sri Lanka:

Notably, it was only the first match of the series against the Islanders when Ishan showed some good shots with the bat and scored 37 runs with two boundaries and three sixes. But in the second and third matches of the series, he completely failed to live up to the expectations and registered single-digit scores of 2 and 1 respectively.
Now, team India under the captaincy of regular skipper Rohit Sharma will take on Dasun Shanka’s men in the first of the three-match ODI series. Both teams will lock horns in the series opener at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. The remaining two matches of the ODI series will be played on the 12th and 15th of January respectively at Eden Gardens of Kolkata and Thiruvananthapuram’s Greenfield International Stadium.
The senior players of the Indian team including the likes of former skipper Virat Kohli and senior batter KL Rahul will also be back in the ODI squad alongside the skipper Sharma.
