Australia are on top in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 final after two days as former Australian captain Steve Smith got to his ton in the very first over of the match on the second day while Travis Head also crossed 150 and both stitched a brilliant 285-run partnership for the 4th wicket and helped the team to achieve a monumental total of 469 runs in the first innings.

Thousands of Indian cricket fans have assembled inside the Kennington Oval stadium and have cheered for the Men in Blue in the first two days. Meanwhile, a picture is getting viral on social media in which 3 fans were spotted wearing the same T-shirt in which an interesting quote was written, read “Begin like Sachin, Live Like Kohli & Finish like Dhoni” and it caught everyone’s attention.

Brilliant bowling performance by Australia

Talking about the match on Day 2, the Indian bowlers picked four wickets in the morning session and wrapped up the last three in the first hour after lunch, but they conceded 469 after opting to bowl. In reply, India got off to a brisk start with both Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma batting positively against Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins.

Then came Scott Boland, who applied the brakes with a maiden over, and immediately the Australian captain trapped Rohit lbw to win the battle of the captains. Boland and Cameron Green cleaned up Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara respectively with both of them misjudging the line and shouldering arms.

Starc removed Virat Kohli with an unplayable delivery, thanks to the extra bounce. At 71/4, India were in a spot of bother. Things almost got worse when Ajinkya Rahane was adjudged lbw on 17 but he escaped it as Cummins had overstepped. Ravindra Jadeja and Rahane stitched a fifty partnership with the former looking in good touch. However, with 15 minutes to go for stumps, Nathan Lyon removed the southpaw with a lovely delivery. India are still behind 318 runs with Rahane and KS Bharat on the crease.
