The 2022 edition of the Indian T20 League is currently underway. At the time of writing, as many as 24 matches have been conducted successfully so far. After winning their last game against Rajasthan, Gujarat currently find themselves at number one position on the points table. In 5 matches, Gujarat have managed to win four games.

Kolkata is currently at second with three wins in 5 matches. In a recent development, Kolkata pacer, Rasikh Salam has been ruled out of the Indian T20 League 2022 and Harshit Rana has replaced him.

Besides, Chennai are currently languishing at second from the bottom of the table. They are dearly missing the services of Deepak Chahar in the tournament. And, what has now come as a major blow to them, Chahar has been ruled out of the Indian T20 League 2022.

Amidst all the injuries and replacements, the fans often wonder whether these injured players get the amount that franchises offered them prior to the start of the tournament? If yes, then how much. If not, then who gets that amount?

Well, to know all of that, we have you covered!

Do injured players get their remuneration in Indian T20 League?

If a player gets injured before the start of the season without playing a single match, then he doesn’t get his contracted amount as he will then be replaced by a new player altogether.

However, the case is a little different for India’s cricketing governing body’s contracted player. If an Indian player, who is contracted under the cricketing governing body, gets injured, then the cricketing board pays him the entire contracted amount as part of the players’ insurance policy. For the unversed, the insurance policy came into effect in the year 2011. The franchise, though, won’t be paying any amount to that player.

What happens if a non-contracted player suffers an injury during an ongoing season of the Indian T20 League?

If an overseas or an Indian player, who is not centrally contracted with India’s governing body, picks up an injury during a season, then he will be paid on the basis of number of matches he played for the team during that season.
