New Zealand batter Devon Conway continued his dream run and scored a brilliant unbeaten 99 in the ongoing second Test match against Bangladesh at Hagley Oval in Christchurch. The southpaw's half-century has put New Zealand in a commanding position at the end of Day 1. Meanwhile, Conway achieved a unique feat as soon as he went past the 50 run mark. The batter became the first player to score 50+ runs in his first five Test innings.

Conway made his Test debut against England in 2021 and announced his arrival in style by scoring a majestic double hundred at Lord’s Cricket Stadium. Later, he followed it up another crucial 80 in the second Test in Edgbaston.

The southpaw soon became the talk town ahead of a mouth-watering final clash against India in the Test Championship (TC) Final. All the experts and former cricketers felt Conway will end New Zealand’s agony in the global events. The southpaw did not disappoint and scored a gritty 54 on a tricky Southampton surface. He managed to show solid technique against the Indian pacers and off-spinner Ravi Ashwin.

His efforts propelled New Zealand to a memorable eight-wicket victory. After a gap of six months, Conway returned to the field in white jersey. The 30-year-old scored a superb 122 and became the only batter to score centuries on debut Test innings in home and away conditions.

Meanwhile, Tom Latham also had a staggering game and scored unbeaten 186 before the close of play. Conway and Latham’s unbeaten 186 run stand has guided the hosts to a solid 349 for one at stumps on Day 1. If Conway gets to a hundred, it will be his third in just five Tests.
